In May 2020, the first concept sedan of WM Motor was presented to the public. WM Motor says it is a growing leader in the Chinese auto market and the only emerging electric vehicle manufacturer in China. The company offers affordable, world-class battery electric vehicles under the Weltmeister brand. Let's see what they did this time.
Designers from WM Motor not only showed ingenuity, but also achieved an aerodynamic coefficient enviable for many models – 0,23. Together with him, Maven boasts a range of 800 km on the NEDC cycle and a third level autopilot, which reaches the fourth when driving on the highway and self-parking. There is a 5G connection on board.
The roof is assembled from transparent sections, smoothly turning into glass. Rear doors with retractable handles swing open against the move. There are no B-pillars, the rest are blackened for contrast with the body.
There are four seats in the cabin. The steering wheel, when the autopilot is on, folds up and hides in the bowels of the panel. The large head-up display moves horizontally. The touchscreen on the console shows data about the state of the owner: pulse, body temperature, pedometer calculations and something else.
Mass production of sedans based on the Maven concept car is expected from 2021. Not a word was said about the power plant of the show car, but the models already available to the Veltmeister can tell a lot. The EX5 SUV (recently renamed EX5-Z) and its stretched EX6 Plus version are equipped with a single 160 kW (218 hp, 315 N•m) electric motor and a 69 kW•h battery. The power reserve does not exceed 520 km in the NEDC cycle. The Living Pilot system (adaptive cruise control with lane monitoring) does not even pretend to the third level.
