KIA currently has two electric crossovers: the Niro EV and the Soul EV. Both are compromised from gasoline cars and instead of a skateboard platform they use traditional "trolleys", which impose restrictions, primarily on the power reserve. A promising electric car must be built from scratch on a new basis. This is what KIA is doing, preparing a compact battery SUV, whose harbinger is the HabaNiro concept in New York. By the way, the Imagine by KIA show car was about the same (read about it here ☛).
The HabaNiro concept turned out to be relatively small – only 4,43 meters in length. However, with a wheelbase of 2830 mm and 20-inch wheels placed almost at the corners of the body, it is endowed with a fair amount of interior space.

The feeling of freedom inside is added by an impressive glazing area, the absence of B-pillars and butterfly-wing doors that open in different directions. In addition, KIA designers have applied a number of original solutions in the interior: for example, the seats are installed so that they create the feeling of floating above the floor. The floor itself is equipped with geometric lighting.

When driving in autonomous mode (and KIA HabaNiro in this regard can be very independent), the controls are shifted towards the front panel, freeing up additional space. The panel itself is a single touch screen, sprawled along its entire length between the A-pillars. In fact, this is the only way to control the additional functions of the car.
The list of features of the KIA HabaNiro also includes atmospheric interior lighting as part of an intelligent driver assistant – it can not only adapt the situation in the cabin to the emotional mood of passengers, but also, for example, by tracking the direction of the driver’s gaze, automatically turn on the image from the rear view camera. And the ventilation system is a network of small holes around the perimeter of the concept cabin.

Its creators prefer to remain silent about the KIA HabaNiro power plant, reporting only that it consists of two electric motors, and the power reserve of the concept reaches 480 km. But a lot was said during the premiere about the possible purposes of using such vehicles: according to the creators of HabaNiro, it can be a city car, an emotional SUV, a travel car, and even a mobile office. At the same time, KIA did not deny the possibility of launching such a crossover into mass production:
“This is not a fantastic supercar that will never be built, but a prophetic look into the future of mobility.”
