Mercedes-Benz never ceases to amaze its fans with new and exciting concepts. This time the company presented its view of the future of the automotive industry in the form of the Vision One-Eleven electric supercar.

Vision One-Eleven is not just another beautiful and powerful electric car. This is a whole philosophy that combines elements of retro and futurism, tradition and innovation, classics and avant-garde. Inspired by the legendary Mercedes-Benz C 111 experimental cars of the 60s and 70s, the Vision One-Eleven represents a modern interpretation of this era. The supercar's design combines retrofuturism with innovative elements.

Design and appearance

  • The Vision One-Eleven embodies the One-Bow signature style, also seen on the production electric cars of the EQ family and the Vision AVTR show car.
  • The narrow stern with a “support” diffuser and wheels reminiscent of the copper stator winding of an electric motor give the car expressiveness.
  • The copper-orange hue of the body changes depending on the lighting.

The appearance of the Vision One-Eleven is striking in its originality and dynamics. The body is made of carbon fiber and has sweeping and sleek lines. The design features massive wheels with aerodynamic spokes that create a levitation effect.

The front part has a characteristic grille with the Mercedes-Benz logo, which is illuminated in blue. The rear has dual taillights and a diffuser that improves aerodynamics and stabilization. The doors open upward, like the 300 SL Gullwing, and have clear inserts that allow you to see the interior details.

Interior and technology

  • The interior is designed in the spirit of a living room and changes the atmosphere depending on the selected driving mode.
  • Bold combinations of materials: white synthetic fabric, orange leather and polished aluminum.
  • Widescreen display with 8-bit graphics and the ability to use augmented reality using Magic Leap 2 glasses.

The interior of the Vision One-Eleven is designed in a minimalist and futuristic style, using high-quality materials such as leather, aluminum and glass.

The instrument panel has a curved display that displays all the necessary information about the vehicle's condition and the environment. The steering wheel has an unusual shape and integrated control buttons. The seats are ergonomically designed and provide comfort and safety for the driver and passenger. The cabin also has a special compartment for storing luggage and personal items.

Vehicle Specifications

  • Electric power plant with a new battery chemistry and liquid-cooled cylindrical cells.
  • Two YASA axial flux motors for power and compactness.

The latest technologies include a new battery concept featuring high-performance liquid-cooled cylindrical cells with new chemistry. In addition, the Vision One-Eleven is equipped with two exceptionally powerful and advanced axial flux motors from YASA (a British electric motor manufacturer).

“Axial flux motors are significantly lighter and more compact, yet more powerful, than comparable radial flux motors, which are currently used in 99 percent of all electric vehicles. In an axial flux motor, the electromagnetic flux flows parallel to the motor's rotation axis, which is very efficient. In a radial flux motor, the flux flows perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Compared to radial flux motors, they have significantly higher and longer-lasting power reserves, delivering a whole new level of performance.”

Tim Woolmer, Founder and CTO of YASA.

In addition to power and torque density, another important advantage is the narrow body, which reduces its weight and dimensions. The weight of an axial flux motor is only one-third that of modern electric motors of the same power output. At the same time, it requires only a third of the space occupied by a radial engine. This opens up entirely new possibilities for engineers, as well as new freedom when designing an electric vehicle, as demonstrated by the Vision One-Eleven.
