BMW continues to celebrate its centenary and following the prototype BMW Vision Next 100, which debuted in March 2016 (read about it here), introduced two more concept cars in June under the subsidiaries Rolls-Royce and MINI. These prototypes show how, according to the designers and engineers of the company, the cars of the Bavarian concern will look like in the future.

In our previous article, we talked about the concept car MINI Vision Next 100. And today we will look at the concept car of the future Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100. The new Rolls-Royce, codenamed 103EX, is the brand's first concept model.

The BMW Group celebrates its centenary in 2016. In March, the Bavarians presented BMW Vision Next 100, and in June – two more prototypes under the subsidiaries Rolls-Royce and MINI. This cycle of looks into the "future BMW experience" will complete the concept bike, which will debut in Los Angeles this October.

Model developers tried to find answers to questions about the future of the British brand. What will luxury mean in the future? How to carry brand exclusivity into the future? How will the needs of brand customers change? How can Rolls-Royce exceed their expectations? Is it possible to set new standards for luxury in the future by combining Rolls-Royce's core values of craftsmanship, pioneering spirit and commitment to excellence with new technology? How do you keep the Rolls-Royce experience unique?

According to the designers of the prototype, in the future, Rolls-Royce will use a lightweight platform with a powerful electric powertrain that allows you to vary the wheelbase and proportions of the car. The company's designers will develop the body of each car according to an individual project in accordance with the wishes of the client.

It seems that the designers took the long-wheelbase Phantom as a basis. From nose to tail, the concept measures 5,9 meters and is 1,6 meters wide. Wheel diameter – 28 inches

This is a completely autonomous electric car, devoid of a steering wheel and pedals, but utterly luxurious

Presenting Vision Next 100, the brand guarantees that it will certainly take into account the wishes of customers – both present and future. Concept car boldly confirms – Rolls-Royce rejects the concept of an impersonal and utilitarian transport of the future

The interior of the show car embodies the concept of the "Grand Sanctuary". The combination of lines, materials and lighting creates an atmosphere for relaxation. The interior is trimmed with ebony, the lining is made of silk, and on the floor of the car there is a hand-woven silk carpet. During the trips, passengers will be served by a virtual assistant: a digital embodiment of the company's mascot – the Spirit of Ecstasy. Her name is Eleanor, after Eleanor Thornton, who served as the prototype for the company's symbol. Eleanor will be displayed on a transparent OLED display and will act according to the passengers' voice commands.

In an effort to make the best car in the world, Rolls-Royce asked customers about their expectations for the brand in the coming decades. It turned out they wanted a unique, custom-made, handmade masterpiece. And so that without compromise

Based on an understanding of the needs of customers, the brand presents its impressive and ambitious concept – a self-driving, spacious and truly luxurious car, unique as the owner's fingerprint

The end of production of the seventh generation Phantom, which has earned connoisseurs the title of "best car in the world", marks the end of the first phase of the revival of the Rolls-Royce brand under the auspices of the BMW Group. The Phantom, Ghost, Wraith and the new Dawn convertible have shaped the marque's success, but it's time to turn the page

Rolls-Royce knows its customers well enough to guess what they can dream of and strive for decades later. We know that true luxury is always individual, and the key to the future of our brand is to be found in its past and present. Based on these findings, the designers invented four cornerstones on which not only the concept is based Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100, but in general the future of ultra-luxury cars

For management Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100 the autopilot answers, so the concept is devoid of a steering wheel, driver's seat and dashboard. The only instrument installed on the front panel is an analog chronometer, reminding passengers that time is of the highest value.

Comfortable travel in the new car will become truly impeccable thanks to the signature ride, comparable to flying on a magic carpet, which will be provided by a powerful, futuristic, environmentally friendly engine and high-tech suspension.

By creating Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100, the developers have discarded the popular belief that the personal transport of the future will become purely utilitarian and functional. They took a bold step and offered an uncompromising solution: a completely autonomous, personalized concept for those who value an emotional connection with the car.

The car is 5,9 meters long, and its long bonnet profile with separate front fenders evokes memories of the luxury coupes of the 1930s. The trunk is located in front, access to it is through a folding side wall. To give the process of disembarking from the car due solemnity, upon arrival, the concept opens a “suicidal” side door and raises part of the roof. The final touch is a special red backlight that imitates the red carpet.

“Today, Rolls-Royce is the epitome of elegance,” says Giles Taylor. “The secret of this elegance is in simplicity, under the cover of which modern technologies are hidden, filling the life of the owner of a Rolls-Royce with impeccable comfort.”

The innovative design makes the ride even quieter and more comfortable thanks to improved aerodynamics and reduced air resistance, but most importantly, it guarantees influential passengers admiring glances at the moment of solemn
