Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor, Cambodia | 360º view

An exotic state in Southeast Asia, Cambodia dates back to 612. Its most famous monument is the temple complex of Angkor Wat. However, in addition to it, the country is rich in many interesting places: the cleanest beaches and unique nature, museums and temples – all this makes up a bright bouquet of Cambodia's attractions.

The ancient city of Angkor was once the capital of the ancient Khmer state and one of the largest cities in the world. This huge complex of buildings, occupying about 600 square kilometers, was known far beyond the borders of the Khmer empire until it was destroyed in 1431 by the troops of Siam. More than 100 palaces and temples hid under the shadow of a lush rainforest until the end of the 19th century, when the French naturalist Anne Muo rediscovered it for mankind. And in 1992, the entire territory of Angkor was taken under the protection of UNESCO.

The complex became even more famous after the shooting of the blockbuster "Lara Croft – Tomb Raider", which was held in several temples of Angkor. As a result, the Ta-Prom temple is known even to those who have never traveled to Cambodia: after all, the most impressive scenes were filmed here. Every tourist who comes to Cambodia dreams of taking a photo at the location where Angelina Jolie was filmed.

Ta-Prom is a beautiful temple intertwined with the massive roots of huge trees. Once it was richly decorated with precious stones, music sounded here, and receptions and dances were held in the halls. When the French discovered Ta-Prom at the end of the 19th century, it was decided not to carry out a full-scale restoration in the temple.

The fact is that giant trees – ficuses and silk trees – have grown together with the ancient walls so much that they have become one with them. And now we can see this unique monument of Cambodia exactly in the form in which the researchers found it.

Of course, the attacks of the multi-armed statues of the temple complex on the sexy heroine of the film "Lara Croft – Tomb Raider" are nothing more than a fiction of the scriptwriters. In fact, grandeur and peace reign here, as you can see for yourself on high-quality AirPano panoramas.
